The highly polished stone reveals layer upon layer of concentric bands, feathery formations, rippling waves, and intricate cellular markings, making the entire surface feel almost like an abstract work of art. Especially captivating are on one side of the box there are portions of the natural pattern that resemble roses surrounded by curling leaves and delicate thorns. Elsewhere, the markings evoke blossoms, shells, clouds, and flowing landscapes. These remarkable designs were created entirely by nature as the mineral formed over time; The lid is particularly dramatic, with a dense tapestry of swirling formations that rewards close inspection.
