Crafted in July 1975, the frames are constructed from solid American Black Walnut, showcasing stunning, tight-grained tapered legs and sculpted organic crest rails. The tall, dramatic back splats feature flat-sawn walnut veneers highlighted by delicate, lighter wood stringing inlay lines that frame the perimeter. This architectural stringing detail beautifully accents the rich, deep chocolate tones of the walnut.
The set has been fully overhauled for modern durability and comfort. The drop-in seat pans have been rebuilt using new 1-inch, high-density premium foam wrapped in plush upholstery batting to maintain their iconic low-profile modernist silhouette.
The seats have been professionally upholstered in a top-tier designer textile: Knoll Luxe’s "Tempest: Fierce" Italian Bouclé. This commercial-grade, multi-dimensional luxury fabric features a complex, heavy-duty looped weave that perfectly complements the organic movement of the walnut grain. For long-term protection against dining room spills, the fabric has been thoroughly treated with premium fabric defense protectant prior to final frame reassembly.
