The top of this chest is made from a single smooth plank of oak with a stepped edge and a mesmerizing grain pattern. This swirled graining continues down the front of the chest and across the faces of its five drawers. Each drawer opens smoothly with brass bail pulls. The original brass locks are intact, but their key has been lost to time. The top drawers are shallow, but the depth of each drawer increases toward the bottom of the chest, with the spacious bottom drawer perfect for storing bulkier items. The chest sits atop four sturdy block feet. The entire piece has a rich, dark stain that lends an elegance to the simplistic design. Gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for storing clothes or linens. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering the age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
