The lithograph print poster is published by The Orangerie Des Tuileries Museum in Paris, Ministere De L' Education Nationale - Editions Des Musees Nationaux. Printed in France in 1958 in an unnumbered limited edition by Mourlot Imp. Paris, on the occasion of the " French Art and Europe in The 17th and 18th Centuries " exhibition. It features an artwork image originally created by David in 1781 titled " Equestrian Portrait of Count Stanislas Potocki ".

Jacques Louis David ( 1748 - 1825 ) was a French painter in the Neoclassical style, considered to be the preeminent painter of the era. In the 1780's, his cerebral oeuvre of history painting marked a change in taste away from Rococo frivolity toward Classical austerity, and heightened feeling, which harmonized with the moral climate of the final years of The Ancien Regime. David was the strongest influence in French Art of The Early 19th Century, especially academic salon painting. Artworks by David are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.

Among his most famous masterpieces " Equestrian Portrait of Count Stanislas Potocki ", is a large scale oil painting on canvas depicting the Polish politician, nobleman, and writer of The Enlightenment Period, Stanislaw Kostka Potocki ( 1755 - 1821 ).

The portrait was first exhibited at The Paris Salon of 1781 and brought to Warsaw before 1801 when it was transferred to The Wilanow Royal Palace, owned by The Potocki Family. The palace later became one of the first public art museums in Poland. The painting was plundered by Nazi German forces in 1944 and taken to Germany. In the aftermath of the war the artwork was officially returned to Poland in 1956 and placed in the collection of The National Museum in Warsaw. In 1990, following the end of Communist rule in Poland, the painting was transferred back to Wilanow and put on permanent display.

The portrait painting is a significant work of Neoclassical Art. It has been described as one of David's masterpieces, and marking the return to prominence of equestrian portraiture in European Late 18th Century Painting.

The venerable famous printing house of Imprimerie Mourlot Paris was founded in 1852 by The Mourlot Family. It is known worldwide for its fine art lithography printing, and one of their most important contributions was to be the art poster. Mourlot became the place where posters were prepared and produced as works of art in their own right. Mourlot became internationally known for their originality, beauty, and exquisite craftsmanship.

This fine art lithograph poster is one of the most desirable of the collaboration and long lasting partnership between Atelier Mourlot and The French National Museums, who together would create many important art posters. An example of this same poster is held in the permanent archive collection of prestigious museums worldwide.

The Musee Orangerie Des Tuileries is an art gallery of Impressionist and Postimpressionist paintings located in The Tuileries Garden in Paris. Napoleon III had The Orangerie built in 1852 to store the citrus trees of The Tuileries Garden from the cold in the winter. Later in the 1920's it became most famous and the now permanent home of masterpiece artworks by many of the most important French Impressionist and Postimpressionist artists.

The rare out of print fine art lithograph print framed Paris exhibition poster measures 21 3/4" W X 30 1/4" H X 1" D.

It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Neoclassical style burnished antiqued gold leafed finish, subtle beaded comb relief detailed front, aged dark walnut stained sides, wood frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.

It is in excellent condition. The poster print is in excellent clean vintage condition consistent with age, very light signs of handling, and light minor wear.
