The tall, slender stand features a beautifully shaped square top with gently undulating sides and a molded edge, raised on four elongated legs incorporating graceful pierced, curvilinear supports characteristic of the Art Nouveau movement. A shaped lower shelf provides additional visual balance and useful display space.

The warm walnut-toned wood displays attractive natural figuring and a mellow aged finish. Particularly appealing is the stand’s restrained interpretation of Art Nouveau: rather than relying upon applied ornament, the decoration is created through the structure itself—the sweeping legs, open negative spaces and subtle curves giving the piece an unusually sculptural profile.

Originally intended as a fern or jardinière stand, its proportions make it equally appealing today as a plant stand, sculpture pedestal, vase stand, small side table or decorative display table.
