A dense, textured cream glaze covers the surface, its rough, sand-like finish providing a tactile contrast to the smoother glazed accents layered on top. Rich burgundy-brown pigment traces bold, teardrop-shaped and circular pierced cutouts across the entire lower body, each opening rimmed in vivid cobalt blue that adds striking chromatic punctuation against the earthy neutral ground. These pierced openings, arranged in radiating teardrop patterns and clustered flower-like circular groupings, allow light to filter dramatically through the ceramic body when illuminated, transforming the lamp into a functional light sculpture as much as a decorative object. Fine, age-appropriate crazing is visible across the glazed surface, adding subtle textural authenticity without disrupting the glaze's overall vibrancy or integrity. The neck transitions into a polished, deep burgundy ceramic collar with a turned, ridged profile, echoing traditional lamp-turning techniques, while a brass fixture at the very top shows a soft, appropriate patina consistent with the piece's vintage age.

Standing 20 inches tall with a 12½-inch width and depth, this lamp makes a dramatic, dynamic statement on a console table, sideboard, or as a striking accent beside a favorite reading chair, its pierced design casting captivating light patterns when in use. Its bold color palette and sculptural pierced ceramic body pair naturally with Mid-Century Modern, Bohemian, Global Eclectic, and Studio Craft interiors. Dust the ceramic body regularly with a soft, dry brush to reach into the pierced openings, and have the wiring inspected by a qualified electrician before use to confirm the fittings meet current safety standards given the lamp's vintage age. The lamp presents in very good condition, with a well-preserved original glaze, rich patina, and vibrant colors, showing only minor surface crazing consistent with age and no visible chips or cracks. A striking, richly detailed piece for collectors of vintage studio ceramic lighting. See less
