Materials: Highly figured, dark striped coromandel wood paired with heavy cast brass straps and natural banded agate or onyx stones.
Design: Domed lid construction featuring scalloped and pierced brass mounts characteristic of luxury English desk accessories from the 1850s to 1870s.
Function: Typically used during the Victorian era as a desktop letter or stationery box, often lined with watered silk or satin on the interior lid.
