Antique Art Nouveau Flemish box with a burned etching called pyography. I attached the vintage sterling grape bunch and the 3 garnets to the front facing and highlighted some of the etching with silver gild enamel.
The sterling silver grapes began as a brooch before I removed the back mechanism and riveted it to the lid. The Garnets are natural Pyropes and there are 3 of them. Grapes symbolize abundance, prosperity, and the sweet rewards of your hard work.
The victorians used grapes often in jewelry especially mourning pieces to represent the triumph of victory over death and the joys of heaven.
Size is 6 inches wide by 5 1/2 by 2 1/2. Like you this box is one of a kind.
