Beautiful antique 19th-century Sèvres-style hand-painted porcelain plaque, featuring an exceptionally colorful botanical arrangement of flowers against a white porcelain ground.

The central decoration includes vivid red poppies, blue cornflowers and an assortment of pink, purple, white and blue blossoms with finely painted green foliage. The flowers are surrounded by an elaborate hand-gilt foliate border and a striking turquoise/celeste blue outer ground.


The plaque is oval in form and measures approximately 10-3/4” high x 7-1/2” wide.


The reverse is unglazed/white and bears an impressed number 270. No factory or artist’s signature that I can identify is present.


Appears to date to the late 19th century, circa 1880, and is being described as Sèvres style based upon its form and decoration rather than as an authenticated product of the Sèvres factory.


In very good original antique condition with typical light age and use wear. There is some expected rubbing/loss to the gilt decoration and minor surface wear, but the painted floral decoration remains remarkably bright and attractive. Please review all photographs closely for exact condition.
