Saint Nicholas is depicted in the traditional manner, raising his right hand in blessing and holding the Gospel in his left. The painted face and hands remain visible beneath an embossed/repoussé metal oklad or riza, with a radiating halo and detailed ecclesiastical decoration.

Of particular interest, the upper reverse of the wooden frame appears to be inscribed “БЕОГРАД – 1935 г.” (Belgrade – 1935), providing a likely place and date for the piece or its framing. There is also a stylized hand-drawn monogram or mark on the lower reverse.

The substantial wooden frame has deeply carved floral and foliate decoration with a carved border. The icon is protected beneath old glass.

Overall measures approximately 12 inches high x 10-1/2 inches wide x 2-1/2 inches deep.

Estate fresh condition with age-related wear, patina and surface marks. There is separation/opening at some of the frame corners, along with scattered wear and small losses to the carved wood. Metal overlay has expected age-related toning/patina. Because the icon is under glass, reflections are visible in the photographs. The icon has not been removed from the frame and the metal overlay has not been removed, so no representation is made concerning markings or decoration concealed beneath it.
