The design features a saucer-shaped glass shade with an unusual geometric atomic-era pattern of alternating circular and branching motifs in gold mirror. The glass on the bottom of the fixture is white, resulting in nicely diffused light. The original four-bulb holder in the center, easily accessed by removing the finial (then the bottom glass), guarantees plenty of illumination. The gold colors on the glass are complimented by the warm brass fittings, with a chrome-colored finial for zippy contrast. Inside the finial is a turn-switch for choosing whether the bulbs are all-on, two-on, all-off.

With its low, broad profile, this fixture exemplifies the Atomic, Space Age aesthetic of American Mid Century lighting. The 20-inch diameter makes it substantial enough for a dining area, entryway, bedroom, or smaller living space, without overwhelming the room.

In overall excellent, working condition, with the exception that the lacquered finish on the canopy is somewhat compromised. Best news yet? I have a pair, perfectly matched with the exception that the perforated metal on top is gold on one, white on the other. This listing is for one light only, the other available after your purchase of this one.

N.B. The ceiling in the room where the photos were taken has a ribbed pattern which is reflected in the gold mirrored design on the top of the shade. In a room with a white or other colored ceiling, without a pattern, these ribbed reflections won't be present!

Dimensions: 20 inches across, hanging down about 20 as well (to the bottom of the finial).
