Description
A striking vintage bentwood rocking chair featuring woven cane seat and back panels and elaborate scrolling bentwood construction. The graceful silhouette is highlighted by dramatically curved rocker rails, looping armrests, and repeating spiral details along both sides.
The tall rounded cane back and coordinating cane seat provide a beautiful contrast against the warm brown bentwood frame. Particularly appealing is the extensive decorative bentwood work throughout the chair, giving this rocker considerably more visual presence than simpler traditional bentwood examples.
Inspired by classic European bentwood furniture associated with the late 19th and early 20th centuries, this piece would work beautifully in a traditional, Victorian-inspired, bohemian or eclectic interior.
No maker’s mark has been identified; therefore, the chair is described as Thonet style rather than attributed to a specific manufacturer.
