This studio pottery vase makes an immediate visual impact through its bold color pairing and expressive silhouette. The body swells outward from a narrow, slightly waisted neck into a rounded, bell-like base, its curves showing the gentle asymmetry and hand-thrown texture characteristic of studio ceramics rather than mold-cast uniformity. At the rim, the vase erupts into a dramatic, undulating ruffle, its irregular peaks and valleys folding and pinching in a way that feels organic and spontaneous, more akin to flower petals or wind-caught fabric than a rigid formed edge. A rich, glossy yellow glaze coats the entire exterior, saturated and sun-bright, catching light in broad, warm highlights across the rounded body. Turning inward at the ruffled rim, the glaze shifts dramatically to a vivid turquoise, visible along the interior throat and the underside of the ruffle's folds, creating a striking chromatic contrast between the vase's outer and inner surfaces. Subtle throwing lines and small surface irregularities are visible across the body, honest markers of hand-building rather than flaws, while the glaze itself remains glossy and largely unblemished, with only the faintest patina hinting at age.
Standing 4½ inches tall with a 4¼-inch width and depth, this vase is compact enough for a windowsill, bathroom shelf, or grouped display, yet bold enough in color to serve as a single striking accent on its own. It suits Mid-Century Modern, Bohemian, Eclectic Vintage, and Organic Modern interiors, where saturated color and handcrafted form are celebrated rather than muted. Use it for dried or fresh stems, or display it empty to let its sculptural rim take center stage; clean gently by hand with a soft, damp cloth, avoiding submersion given its vintage glaze and construction. The vase presents in very good condition, structurally sound with no chips or cracks, its glaze intact aside from a slight age-appropriate patina. A vibrant, one-of-a-kind piece for collectors of studio pottery or anyone drawn to bold, handcrafted color.
