Hand-painted ceramic vase by Sicilian aristocrat turned artist, Giovanni De Simone (1964, Italy).
Figural piece depicting a smiling girl in a headdress in De Simone's signature vibrant colors of brown, yellow, red, orange, purple, green and blue.
This piece's aesthetic was heavily influenced by Pablo Picasso (whom De Simone greatly admired). It is an amalgam of Italian folk art (simplicity, inaccuracy and crudeness of subject) with modernism in the use of color and shape.
Excellent, vintage condition with no chips or cracks.
Signed De Simone with the year '64.
