A dramatic clear acrylic hanging Bubble Chair in the celebrated 1968 design associated with Finnish designer Eero Aarnio. Its transparent spherical shell is enclosed by a polished metal rim and suspended from a metal chain, creating the marvelous floating effect that made the Bubble Chair an icon of Space Age design.
Loose white upholstered seat and back cushions soften the futuristic shell and provide a comfortable place to lounge, read, or simply make an entrance. Because the transparent body allows light and sightlines to pass through, the chair has considerable visual presence without appearing heavy in a room.
The original Bubble Chair was conceived by Eero Aarnio in Finland in 1968 as a transparent, ceiling-hung development of his earlier Ball Chair. Its molded acrylic shell and suspended construction perfectly captured the optimism and experimental spirit of the late 1960s.
This example is unmarked and is therefore being offered conservatively as in the style of Eero Aarnio, rather than as an authenticated licensed production. It remains a wonderfully photogenic statement chair for a living room, loft, bedroom, studio, boutique, or entertainment space.
