This attractive example measures approximately 24” long x 6” wide, with the carved figural horse handle extending approximately 4-3/4” deep/high from the board.

The face is extensively hand carved with repeating geometric, floral and rosette motifs surrounded by a deeply carved border. Particularly appealing is the large stylized horse-form handle, a classic feature found on Scandinavian mangle boards. The dark, well-aged surface and visible wood grain give the piece a terrific primitive folk-art appearance.

The reverse is relatively plain and has a later metal hanger attached so the piece can be displayed vertically as wall art.

Estate fresh condition with typical surface wear, rubbing, small marks and variations associated with age and use. Please examine photographs carefully for the exact condition and construction.
