Five drawers, two shorter ones over three graduated below, sit on a separate base fitted with its own drawer and a full set of barley twist legs joined by a low stretcher, the same spiraled turning that defines English William and Mary furniture from the 1690s onward and that cabinetmakers kept reviving for centuries after. We like that the stand does real work here, not just decoration, lifting the drawers to a height where you're not bending to reach the bottom one. Original-style brass drop pulls and diamond escutcheons run down the front, aged to a soft, uneven patina that a new set of hardware can't fake. The dark stained wood shows honest handling on the top and around the pulls, exactly where a chest like this gets touched every day. At 37 inches wide and just over 43 inches tall, it reads as substantial without swallowing a room. Set it in an entry for keys and linens, or beside a bed as a tall nightstand alternative with real storage behind every drawer.
