Handsome, vintage Chinese ceramic guardian lion, commonly called a foo dog, finished in a striking sancai-style glaze of celadon green, cobalt blue, amber brown, and creamy ivory. The substantial hollow figure features an expressive open mouth, curled mane, upright tail, and deeply molded detailing. Its impressive scale and rich coloring make it a fabulous statement piece for a console, mantel, bookcase, or entryway.
