Fantastic vintage table lamp by Maitland-Smith, featuring a wonderfully sculptural frog balancing a bamboo-form pole with two hanging lantern shades.
The cast bronze frog has a richly textured verdigris finish and stands atop an oversized lily pad beautifully clad in tessellated penshell. Two suspended lanterns feature acrylic shades decorated with a crackled ostrich eggshell surface, giving off a warm, organic appearance.
A particularly whimsical example of Maitland-Smith’s use of exotic materials and naturalistic forms, blending coastal, tropical, Asian Modern, and Hollywood Regency influences. Equal parts functional lighting and decorative sculpture.
Retains its original Maitland-Smith tag.
