A Continental wrought iron tripod plant stand with an open, sculptural form composed of scrolling ironwork and hand-worked foliage. The three-sided frame rises on gracefully curved legs terminating in tightly scrolled feet, while repeated pierced scrolls give the stand an airy architectural quality.
Applied leaves climb the central support and punctuate the frame, providing a naturalistic counterpoint to the curving structure. The upper section has three upswept supports with curled terminals, designed to hold a plant. Small iron collars and joined sections add to the hand-forged character.
The iron retains an aged painted surface with areas of oxidation. Its height and open construction make it particularly effective for displaying a potted plant or trailing greenery while allowing the decorative ironwork to remain visible.
