An exceptional and historically interesting 19th-century costume plate illustrating a Yasakchi (alternatively spelled Jasacgi or Yassakchi, the Ottoman Turkish term for an official guard, courier, or escort specifically assigned by the Ottoman government to protect and assist foreign ambassadors, consuls, or ministers, translated by the parallel contemporary Italian inscription "Guardie dei Ministri esteri"). This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
