A brilliant example of Félicien Rops’ sharp, darkly satirical visual wit, Le Médecine Expérimentale provides a biting critique of the 19th-century medical and scientific establishment. Renowned for his disdain for modern bourgeois institutionalism, Rops frequently targeted academics, judges, and doctors in his graphic works. Condition: A rich, highly resonant impression showing crisp plate tone and excellent legibility of the light marginal script. The rectangular plate mark is deep, pristine, and uniformly struck. The paper matrix is extraordinarily well-preserved, remaining free of foxing, structural tears, skinning, or mat browning within the primary image field. Ref.
