An impressive lion's head door knocker on a large door always makes for a grand and sophisticated entrance. This solid cast brass English door knocker with very fine detailing dates from the early 1900s. This knocker represents the British Imperial Lion, symbol of the great British Empire and is similar to the infamous Lion's Head Door Knocker on the British Prime Minister residence at Number 10 Downing Street in London.
The knocker is in excellent antique condition with a mellow patina, and normal wear from age and use. Functional and ready to display. Two black oxide bolts will allow for mounting on doors measuring 1.75” thick. Upon request, smaller or larger bolts are available at no charge. The striker is not included.
A solid heavy decorative piece with lots of character and very characteristic of English quality and charm.
