The substantial urn-like vessel rises from stacked rectilinear glass plates, creating a striking contrast between the angular base and the sweeping organic form above.

The vessel is extensively worked with broad stylised acanthus and foliate motifs in frosted and etched glass. Its upper edge develops into a dramatic serrated leaf-form rim, with projecting points extending beyond the rounded body and creating a strongly sculptural silhouette. The translucent aqua glass adds optical depth throughout the composition, particularly where the layered geometric base catches and refracts light.

Signed Robert Guenther, the piece corresponds closely with documented examples of this circa-1990 American design. At 9.5 inches high, over 10 inches wide and weighing 6.4 lb, it has considerable physical presence as a work of American studio glass and is particularly effective as a centrepiece or standalone sculptural object.
