The cylindrical candle socket is decorated with incised ring detailing and features a side slot with an adjustable push-up machanism designed to raise the candle as it burns. The broad circular pan catches dropping wax while the riveted finger-loop handle allows the chamberstick to be easily carried.

The brass retains a beautifully naturally aged surface with warm patina, oxidation, darkening and variations in tone. The underside reveals traditional construction with a riveted handle attachment and iron component at the base of the candle mechanism.
