The unknown design is somewhat reminiscent of a work by the Swedish designer Axel Einar Hjorth (1888-1959). His work was also highly idiosyncratic and characterized by exceptional consistency. Our chair is unlikely to be from a series; rather, it is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece. It is made entirely of solid spruce, with walnut used for the rockers. A professional restorer removed the weathered old varnish, re-stained, and re-varnished everything. Missing areas were repaired, and some wooden dowels were replaced. The rocking chair is therefore in excellent condition with very few signs of age. See less
