Beautiful vintage Chinese blue-and-white porcelain scholar’s brush washer.

Boasting a striking low, wide-slung cylindrical profile, this piece features an incredibly detailed, entirely hand-painted continuous scroll of lotuses and vines mimicking classical Ming and Qing dynasty styles.

Unlike cheap modern replicas that use stamped decals or stencils, this collection-worthy studio piece shows gorgeous artistic depth.

The exterior showcases fine hand-drawn linework (Goulun) paired with masterful fluid cobalt shading (Fenshui). True artisanal indicators, such as natural pigment pooling and soft variations under the glaze, are visible across the petals.

The vessel rests on a sturdy, traditional bi-level recessed base. The center circle is coated in a smooth, glossy white glaze, while the wide footprint ring remains an intentionally unglazed, gritty ceramic paste characteristic of late 20th-century durable kiln processing.

Very good vintage condition. Pristine structure with no chips, cracks, fleabites, or repairs. Features a natural ring of light brownish discoloration along the bottom interior crease line (consistent with age, mineral deposits, or vintage calligraphy ink residue). See less
