It is a French Art Deco lithograph print from a series called “Le Femme Chez Elle”. It is illustrated and signed by the leading Art Deco artist of the period, Paul Iribe. The image represents the artiist's portrayal of the “woman at home”. The original painting appeared in the Paris salon in 1934; this print along with 3 others were published in the 1934 L’Illustration Noel magazine that highlighted the salon exhibition. Iribe was a higlhly acclaimed designer and illustrator of the decorative arts. He was also Coco Chanel's lover! He ushered in the modernist style to Paris fashion and design using flat planes and minimalism. He worked with pochoir. His work was prolific. He collaborated with Paul Poiret and he illustrated extensively in poster art.. Iribe's work appeared in La Gazette du Bon Ton and his fashion illustrations were in Vogue, Harper Bazaar, Femina etc. And today his work is highly regarded and highly collectible, particularly with the passage of time. This image tells a story. It has strong color and it showcases a woman reclining in her boudior. Note the wonderful interior setting that reflects French Art Deco design elements. Note too the lush sumptous fabrics and her jewelry! The print is 10.75 x 13.75 inches in size. It is original to 1934 and is NOT a recent reproduction. It is in A+ condition; comes custom matted in a neutral 16 x 20 inch custom mat that works perfectly in a standard size frame. Please allow time for custom matting.
