The painted imagery wraps continuously around the exterior, creating an abstract, almost calligraphic composition, while the interior is finished in a deep black glaze. The underside features a graphic rooster-like maker's device and an incised signature or mark; the artist remains unidentified. A particularly characterful example of one-of-a-kind studio ceramics.
