Dated 1993, this heavy ceramic piece brilliantly balances rugged, volcanic textures with refined interior craftsmanship. The exterior boasts a highly tactile, heavily cratered and pebbled cream slip texture. It is dynamically overlaid with hand-painted abstract botanical leaf-and-vine motifs in rich jewel tones of forest green, deep teal, ochre, and burgundy. In a stunning hidden contrast, the interior is finished in a completely smooth, lustrous, high-gloss deep violet glaze. The unglazed foot features a stylized, incised artisan signature and the hand-carved year, "- 1993 -".
