The design takes its name from its enveloping semicircular form, with overlapping upholstered sections that appear to wrap around the sitter.

The construction is particularly interesting from every angle. Curved panels overlap to create the back and arms, while the subtly asymmetric profile—with one side rising slightly higher than the other—gives the chairs a sculptural, origami quality without feeling overly formal. Slender black metal legs provide a simple counterpoint to the upholstered form.

The chairs are upholstered in Kvadrat Steelcut Trio 3 in Pitaya, a fabric that has a finely textured two-tone weave that reads as a nuanced raspberry pink from a distance. Pronounced pinched seams trace the edges of the upholstered panels, further defining the chair's construction.

Hémicycle was created by French designer Philippe Nigro in collaboration with Mobilier National and produced by Ligne Roset. Both chairs retain their original labels identifying Mobilier National, Ligne Roset, Hémicycle and Philippe Nigro.

Beautifully made and thoughtfully detailed, the Hémicycle feels both distinctly contemporary and remarkably timeless.
