Beautiful large HB Quimper hand-painted faience plate featuring a traditional Breton couple in regional costume. At the center, a man and woman face one another within a pastoral landscape, surrounded by a particularly rich border of stylized cobalt-blue and red flowers with green foliage. The bright yellow inner border and scalloped edge give the plate the lively, unmistakable appearance associated with classic Quimper pottery. The reverse is marked: HB QUIMPER FRANCE entièrement décoré main meaning “entirely decorated by hand.” Additional handwritten factory/decorator notation appears on the reverse. At approximately 25 cm in diameter, this is a substantial display plate and particularly attractive for a wall collection. Figural Quimper pieces depicting traditional Breton life are especially evocative of the pottery's regional heritage.
