The central well showcases a striking black … Read more This exquisite piece of Belgian earthenware (faience) features a vibrant, hand-finished Chinoiserie design. The central well showcases a striking black and white butterfly hovering among a large red peony blossom, a bright yellow chrysanthemum, and deep indigo-blue foliage. The central motif is framed by an intricate golden Greek key style inner border, while the gently scalloped rim is decorated with a trailing vine of multi-colored floral blossoms.

Diameter: 18.5 cm (approx. 7.25 inches) — Perfect size for a dessert, salad, side, or bread and butter plate.

Manufacturer: Boch Frères Keramis (BFK) - La Louvière, Belgium.

Estimated Age: Mid-to-late 19th Century (Circa 1860–1890).

Markings: Features the authentic circular, scalloped blue underglaze backstamp with the pattern name "CHINOIS" and factory indicator letter 'F' on the underside.

Structural Integrity: The plate is structurally sound with no cracks, spiderweb hairlines, or repairs.

Glaze: Features a beautiful, fine web-like network of surface crazing throughout the clear glaze, which is completely normal and expected for authentic 19th-century earthenware.

Wear: There is a single, small vintage chip on the outer edge of the scalloped rim (clearly visible in photos). It does not detract from the stunning central artwork, making this an excellent piece for a wall hanger, plate rack, or cabinet display! See less
