Large antique pickling jar from Germany late 19th or early 20th century. This traditional Westerwald ceramic crock was made in the German Westerwald region also known as Kannenbäckerland. They were known for making these grey and cobalt blue salt glazed vessels for pickling or fermenting.
After they were emptied they were often kept as a treasured item in the household. Great for storing food, to use for kitchen utensils or as flower pots.

Dimensions: Diameter 27 cm, height 20.5 cm. Volume: 8 liters.
