These elegant armchairs are characterized by their unmistakable sweeping bentwood armrests, one of the defining elements associated with Halabala’s modernist seating designs. The continuous curved wooden arms form a dramatic loop around the upholstered body, creating a particularly expressive silhouette from every angle. The chairs combine the functional principles of Central European modernism with the softer, more decorative character of the late Art Deco period. Their generously proportioned seats, inclined backs and low stance create a comfortable lounge chair, while the slender bentwood arms provide a beautiful visual contrast to the upholstered volumes. The wooden elements retain a warm, rich patina, emphasizing the elegant curves of the armrests and tapered legs. The chairs have been professionally reupholstered in a new high-quality mustard-yellow fabric, carefully selected to complement the warm tone of the wood. The upholstery gives this historical design a fresh and contemporary appearance while respecting its original proportions and character. Especially attractive is the relationship between the relatively simple upholstered body and the highly sculptural bentwood arms. Seen from the side, the arms create an almost continuous flowing line, giving the chairs their unmistakable architectural presence. A very decorative and comfortable pair that works equally well in a sophisticated residential interior, hotel, boutique, library or contemporary design setting. Sold as a pair.
