This rare pair of Art Deco rooster and parrot figures designed by Hans Hagenauer (1896–1975) represents a masterful crossover of Vienna Secession aesthetics and mid-20th-century innovation. Produced by the Austrian metalwork studio Werkstätte Hagenauer Wien started in 1925, these limited-edition sculptures elegantly juxtapose a polished brass skeletal framework against vibrant, translucent celluloid panel infills—a highly unique mixed-media technique favored by the Hagenauer brothers during their most experimental design periods.
These designs were a limited edition; stamped beneath, "Made in Austria Hagenauer Handmade."
Their are several cracks in the celluloid and shrinkage due to age, please see photos for more information.
