The compact six-inch form has … Read more A late twentieth-century Edinburgh Crystal vase, produced in Scotland and acid etched “Edinburgh / Scotland”. The compact six-inch form has a slightly flaring cylindrical profile with substantial crystal mass and an extensively cut surface.

The decoration combines elongated opposing diagonal cuts forming an open crisscross and diamond lattice with radiating pointed cuts across the upper register. These multi-point star and fan-like elements descend into the lattice below, producing a distinctive geometric composition while avoiding attribution to an unsupported named pattern.

The exact Edinburgh Crystal pattern remains unidentified. The cutting does not correspond sufficiently with the documented Star of Edinburgh pattern, and no unsupported association with Balmoral, Thistle or another named line is made. At 1.1 lb, the vase is notably substantial for its modest scale.
