Figures on a chariot is an original gouache on ivory colored paper, 1820 c.a, realized by Michela De Vito. Very beautiful and good quality watercolor both for the drawing and for the fineness of the colours. Michela De Vito born in Abruzzi. She worked in Naples and became a famous artist during the XIX century. She was maybe the daughter or sister of Camillo de Vito, a famous painter of guaches above all of views and scenes of everyday life. Sometimes she was mistaken for Michele de Vito. This is how De Rosa and Trastulli describe her: “A refined painter, very skilled when it came to drawings, she had the characteristic to make her subject more gentle, compared to her male colleagues". This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
