Each 7.5” plate is … Read more Description:A complete set of 8 vintage Royal Cauldon “Aviary” pattern plates, Bristol Ironstone, made in England. Each 7.5” plate is hand-illustrated with a different North American songbird, signed by artist H.A. Pausch, and set within a richly embossed, scalloped rim with lace-style relief detailing characteristic of Royal Cauldon’s tableware.

The set includes the following eight birds, each shown among botanically accurate blossoms, berries, or boughs:

• Northern Cardinal, perched among dogwood blossoms
• Blue Jay, among oak leaves and acorns
• American Goldfinch, among thistle
• Purple Finch, on a pine bough with pinecones
• Rose-breasted Grosbeak (or similar black-and-rose songbird), on a flowering branch
• Eastern Bluebird, among flowering branches
• Baltimore Oriole, among magnolia blossoms
• Scarlet Tanager, on a berry branch

Condition: Good vintage condition, consistent with age. Several plates show light discoloration around the rim; please refer to photos for full detail on each piece. No chips or cracks noted. Backstamped Royal Cauldon, Bristol Ironstone, England.
