Produced in Copenhagen, Denmark, the vase has a substantial flattened ovoid profile with a short cylindrical neck and a strongly graphic surface treatment characteristic of Thorsson’s experimental mid-century ceramic work.

The glazed earthenware body is finished in a tactile dark brown-black ground animated by stylised ochre-yellow birds and abstract organic forms. The contrast between the textured surface and bold avian decoration gives the vase a distinctly sculptural presence within the Scandinavian Modern tradition.
