The shaped crest has a Gothic and trefoil character, giving the pair a strong Tudor Revival and Arts & Crafts presence well suited to library, study or farmhouse interiors.

The dark patinated iron retains contrasting copper-bronze and reddish painted highlights across the figural hearth decoration. The dimensional casting gives the scenes considerable depth, while the broad bases provide the weight and stability expected of functional bookends.
