The original oil painting dates to 1849 and portrays a schoolmaster intervening between two young boys following an altercation, capturing the expressive storytelling associated with Victorian genre painting. The reproduction is presented in an ornate wood-toned frame accented by raised foliate and acorn motifs, dimensional molding, and decorative inner borders in bronze and gold tones. The reverse retains a vintage J.J. Allen Ltd., The Quadrant, Bournemouth furnishing label handwritten “David & Eddie (At Play…),” adding provenance to the framing history. It is in good condition with visible and minimal wear from usage. See less
