Handblown in glossy black glass, each vase features broad, irregular bands of shimmering gold-sheet or gold-flake decoration suspended within the glass. Clear glass pedestal feet complete the dramatic designs.

The pair includes one tall, slender tapered vase and one smaller rounded vase. Although contrasting in form, their matching materials and decoration create a sophisticated, sculptural presentation.

Comparable examples featuring this distinctive black glass and abstract gold-sheet decoration have been identified as Theresienthal “Meistergläser” production from approximately the 1970s. No original label or clearly visible acid-etched crown mark was located on this pair; therefore, the maker is presented as an attribution.

An impressive example of postwar European studio glass that works beautifully in a Mid-Century Modern, Hollywood Regency, Art Deco revival, or contemporary interior.
