Sculpturally textured forms with geometric relief, finished in a sophisticated celadon glaze with warm red clay accents at the rims and bases. A striking example of Royal Copenhagen’s experimental studio ceramics of the period. Both pieces are stamped by Royal Copenhagen and Melike signature. Melike Ababiyanik Kurtic was a Turkish ceramist. She graduated in 1955 from the Department of Arts and Crafts at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts. She went on to study at Herman Kähler's factory in Næstved in 1963 and thereafter, from 1963 to 1966, she worked at Royal Copenhagen, and between 1967 and 1968, Kurtic studied glazes at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Thereafter, she worked with photography and other visual arts from the various places in Europe where she lived. MEASUREMENTS: Model 22076: Height: 13 cm. Diameter: 10 cm. Model 22078: Height: 10 cm.
