Elegant pair of antique English Jacobean style armchairs, dating to circa 1890, crafted in oak and featuring finely carved architectural details throughout. Each chair has a caned back with a carved acanthus leaf motif prominently displayed on the upper back splat.
The chairs are further distinguished by hand-carved molding and detailing, turned elements at the tops of all four legs, and turned stretchers connecting the front and back legs for added visual interest and structural character.
The removable seats make these chairs particularly practical for easy reupholstering, allowing the upholstery to be updated while preserving the original character of the frames.
A handsome matching pair well suited to a traditional dining room, study, library, entryway, or English country interior.
