An exceptional authentic mid-century American figural doorstop produced in Waynesboro, Virginia, by the historic foundry Virginia Metalcrafters, copyrighted 1949. Titled "Dream Boy," this substantial solid cast sculpture measures 9" tall by 7" wide and captures a seated Cocker Spaniel with finely detailed wavy coat texturing, expressive eyes, and long pendulous ears.
The flat reverse side is clearly embossed with the official Virginia Metalcrafters hallmark alongside "Dream Boy Copyright 1949".
Exhibiting handsome, authentic aged surface patina with no cracks, breaks, or structural flaws, this heavy piece serves equally well as a functional hearthside doorstop, architectural bookend, or traditional canine library accent.
