Pristine pair of mid-20th-century Chinese export porcelain reticulated oval plates. Beautifully hand-painted in a vibrant Famille Rose palette, each plate features an intricate "Mandarin style" court scene depicting elegant ladies gathered around a table playing a traditional board game in a classic courtyard setting.
The central figurative vignettes are framed by an exceptional, vibrant reticulated (pierced) lattice rim. The pierced openwork bars are accented with alternating panels of bright yellow, soft pink, and sky blue enamels. A delicate gilded border with stylized lotus flower motifs gracefully finishes the outer rim.
These highly decorative plates make a sophisticated addition to a traditional or Chinoiserie-chic interior. Their matched oval shapes are highly desirable for creating a symmetrical wall display, styling an elegant mantle vignette, or anchoring a dining room sideboard.
