An exquisite 10.5-inch hand-thrown studio pottery charger/plate by artist Nora, dating to the 1970s American studio craft movement.
The plate features a rich, deep oxblood / copper-red reduction glaze with subtle pooling and tonal variegation across the surface. Incised into the glaze are abstract, geometric sgraffito lines that introduce a refined mid-century graphic element. Achieving this luminous copper-red reduction requires master-level kiln atmosphere and temperature management, distinguishing it as an exceptional piece of studio ceramic art. Incised signature "NORA" on the reverse.
Provenance & Collection Note:
Acquired directly from the private estate collection of Eve Paige Spencer, whose work is held in the permanent collection of the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery at Scripps College, California, and her husband, writer and art collector Donner Spencer. Several companion works from this collection by Nora are also available—ideal for styling as a curated wall gallery, table vignette, or modernist ceramic ensemble.
