The large round plate features a beautifully detailed floral design surrounding the Norwegian phrase, “Bedre kan eg inkje fare end at fare til min Gud.” A handwritten translation on the reverse reads, “Better than I could never fare to travel towards my God.” The combination of folk-art painting, Norwegian verse, and warm natural wood gives this piece wonderful character and a distinctive decorative presence.
