Measuring 32” H × 18” W × 13” D, this petite antique chair features an architectural arched crossrail above six turned baluster spindles, a molded-edge plank seat, square legs and a corresponding spindle-decorated frontal stretcher.

The chair retains a wonderfully aged dark walnut surface with the rich patina and irregularities accumulated over centuries. Its compact scale and sculptural silhouette make it especially appealing as an accent piece displayed beside a console, in a library, entry, bedroom or within a collection of early furniture.

The chair is accompanied by an earlier European furniture auction/catalog page illustrating the chair as Lot 721 and describing it as one of “Two Italian Renaissance Walnut Side Chairs, 17th Cent.”
